About Us
Mad Agony are an italian band formed in 1991 by Samael
Von Martin (guitar), Marco Vettore (bass) and Stefano
Argenti (drums). Looking for a singer they got in touch
with Massimo Mad Zanetti (Strong Revenge and other minor
bands in the eighties) who enthusiastically joined the
band. Different musical experiences and influences made
Mad Agony songs hard to place in a specific genre. In
december 1992 the band recorded the demo tape "The only
way to die" that includes four songs: "From the Darkness",
"Boundaries of death", "Back in town" and "Mad Agony".
Mad Agony had a good response from the fans while playing
live because of their direct approach on stage and their
quite essential music. In 1993 Samael and the band divorced.
He then brings to life several black metal combos (Evol,
Satanel, Death Dies the most important). Max and Marco,
without Stefano (who joined Serpenti Sonori, a cover
band), recruit a new drummer, Christian Padoan and a
guitarist, Carlo De Toni, who already played with Samael
on Mad Agony for awhile. The change in line-up brings
the band to nowhere because the old feeling and originality
were lost, so Max and Marco decide to quit the band.
After some tries to put the band together in the past
years, Max and Samael re-formed Mad Agony in 2011 to
put the old songs on a cd. The drummer is Demian De
Saba, always present in Samael's black metal bands becomes
the new drummer of Mad Agony.
